New Year’s Eve is exciting for humans and utterly baffling for many pets. Loud bangs, flashing lights and excitable countdowns can cause real stress.
1. The Firework Fear Factor
If your pet hates fireworks, you’re not alone. Try closing curtains, playing calming music and creating a cosy den.
2. Calming Support
Pheromone diffusers, calming supplements or vet-prescribed medication can help. Contact us early — December gets busy!
In general, pets tend to get worse over the years not better – if this is happening to your pet then get in touch, there’s loads we can do these days to help.
3. Keep Them Indoors
Walk dogs before dark, bring cats in early and secure windows and cat flaps. Then give them a good dinner – we all get a bit snoozy after some fresh air and a big walk – pets are no different! If they’re in that relaxed place when the fireworks start that can only help.
4. Microchips Matter
An up-to-date microchip gives you the best chance of being reunited if your pet panics and bolts. Unfortunately this can happen.
