We’re delighted to report that three of our nursing team, Britney, Katie and Daisy (in order in the photo!), all passed their final exams at the end of last year and are all now official RVNs – registered veterinary nurses.
This is a tremendous achievement. I have always felt that the RVN course is very challenging. Student nurses work full-time in their training practice, with one day a week spent at college. They must log all sorts of practical skills over a period of two years, from cleaning a kennel to running blood tests to preparing surgical equipment correctly. They need to study for exams and write assignments, all the while working hard as a nurse within a busy practice like Kelperland. It is genuinely difficult, and I think at times harder than the veterinary exams I did myself at university – the standard that the nurses are expected to achieve and the tiny room for mistakes makes qualification a fantastic achievement.
Becoming a registered veterinary nurse is a lifelong achievement. Britney, Katie and Daisy will all now go onto the register of veterinary nurses and are part of a very proud profession for the rest of their working lives.
We are thrilled to have three new RVNs in our team – it means that the level of care we can offer our patients just gets better and better.
If any of you see them around the practice, make sure to pass on congratulations
